Innovative Propulsion

Part of the ‘changing world’ scenario for professional maritime organisations is the next generation of craft in the sub IMO sector (under 24 metre / 80 feet). Focus is on major innovations in power and propulsion technology in the dynamic sectors between ‘boats’ & ‘ships’ - ranging from fast patrol craft to offshore energy support vessels.

Fuel Economy & Environmental Drivers

As fuel budgets are being cut for many professional organisations around the world engine manufacturers now recognise that high performance needs to be balanced with fuel economy and environmental compliance. Global emission controls include the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL).

Identifying Viable Technologies - Today

Established marine OEMs and land based industries are developing power and propulsion technology solutions that range from slight percentage gains to game changers. Our objective is to identify relevant innovations linked to end-user requirements, effective procurement and reduced through life operating costs.

Hybrid Marine Energy - Storage & System Integration

The shipping sector and various land based industries have already implemented hybrid systems including diesel, electric and solar. We work with end-user organisations, manufacturers and system integrators to establish viable options for power generation, energy storage and efficient propulsion solutions.

Multi Fuel Engines & Diesel Outboards

In recent years navies and air forces around the world have made the decision to not carry gasoline (petrol) onboard ships and aircraft. High power (200hp to 300hp) multi-fuel and diesel outboards have become a major objective for end-user organisations, specialist engineers and powertrain developers worldwide.

Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Technology

Fuel cells are becoming an option for industrial, commercial and transport applications. A fuel cell generates direct current power through a chemical reaction. Hydrogen, which can act as an energy carrier, is starting to gain interest for various applications as it utilises scalable technology along with low emissions.

LNG & LPG

The movement of liquefied gas by sea is well established. LNG accounts for a significant part of the growth in the global energy supply and future demand for LNG  /LPG is expected to increase. Projects developing small vessels for shortsea and coastal operations will to help create LNG distribution and storage networks.
